Ai Weiwei’s Gilded Cage to go on long-term display at Blenheim Palace
This summer, Blenheim Art Foundation will unveil a monumental sculpture by Chinese artist Ai Weiwei (b. 1957) to go on long-term view in the grounds of Blenheim Palace. Gilded Cage (2017) addresses the international migrant crisis, and the physical and ideological constraints of life as a refugee.
Ai Weiwei was the first contemporary artist in the Palace’s 300-year history to exhibit at Blenheim, when Blenheim Art Foundation launched in 2014, so Gilded Cage will mark a welcome return by the artist. More information to follow.
